Dental Assistant On-The-Job Training Program
If you aspire to become a Dental Assistant, our On-the-Job Training Program offers an accelerated path to achieving your goal. In just six months, you’ll receive comprehensive training, working full-time in our dental office alongside experienced dentists. This hands-on experience will enable you to support dentists during treatments and procedures, sterilize and prepare dental equipment, and gain the skills necessary to pass the DANB Radiation Health and Safety exam. Plus, when you obtain your x-ray certification, you’ll receive a well-deserved pay raise.
To be eligible for this program, all you need is a High School Diploma or equivalent, a COVID-19 vaccination, and to be at least 18 years old. Rest assured that your experience with us will be both fulfilling and rewarding.
Expanded Functions Dental Assistant Program
For those looking to take their dental career to new heights, our Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) Program is the perfect choice. This program, conducted in partnership with local institutions, offers you a chance to learn advanced skills such as placing dental fillings, applying sealants and fluoride, and coronal polishing. Upon program completion, you’ll have greater responsibilities in patient oral health and, as a bonus, receive a pay raise.
To be eligible for the EFDA program, you must have prior experience as a dental assistant and commit to working for River Valley Health & Dental for two years. Additionally, a COVID-19 vaccination is required. We believe that this step in your career will be a rewarding and transformative one.
Medical Assistant Program
If patient care is your passion, our Medical Assistant Program is an excellent option to consider. This grant-funded program offers a unique blend of classroom learning and hands-on clinical experience within River Valley Health & Dental. During the program, you’ll gain essential administrative and clinical skills, including taking medical histories, phlebotomy, preparing patients for exams, and conducting basic lab tests.
Upon completion, you’ll be required to work with us for two years, during which you’ll have the opportunity to become a certified or registered medical assistant. The program duration varies depending on your choice, with options for a 12-month in-person course at McCann or a 7.5-month online program with NIMAA (National Institute for Medical Assistant Advancement).
To join the Medical Assistant Program, you’ll need a High School Diploma or equivalent, a COVID-19 vaccination, and a commitment to working at River Valley Health & Dental for two years. The program’s grant-funded nature makes it an incredible opportunity to kickstart your career in the medical field.
